What is myAbakus?
myAbakus is a simple bookkeeping software for non-accountants that will help you understand and control your business finances. In other words, myAbakus is an accounting software in the cloud that will help your small business to stay organized, online and on the right track.
myAbakus is also what is known as software as a service that is delivered through the Internet. Same as the web apps that Hotmail, Yahoo and Gmail have for their users so that they can manage their email accounts with only a browser (of their choice). There is nothing to install or download. We run, maintain, and upgrade the system directly on the servers so that you never have to be bother with hardware or software problems.
All you need is an Internet connection to access to your data anywhere. And given that a computer without an permanent Internet connection is an endangered specie, we think that not having to install anything is an advantage rather than a limitation. Besides, remember that unless you make daily backups of all your data, your information is safer on a server, where this is always the case.
Can I use myAbakus when I am not connected to the Internet?
Not at the moment (see What is myAbakus?). But in the future we may introduce a technology called Google Gears that allows web apps like ours run without being online and synchronize data with the server when the Internet connection is reestablished.
Will myAbakus work well in my country?
Absolutely. We designed myAbakus following business principles that are universal. We believe this makes myAbakus simpler and easier than traditional accounting software that is suppose to deal every local regulatory aspect. Remember that myAbakus was designed to help you run your business, not please your accountant. But also keep in mind that myAbakus can handle local tax issues (like VAT) and that granting access to your accountant will make his/her work easier. And if you come up with a suggestion to make myAbakus work better in your regulatory environment, we will be happy to consider it.
How do you backup the data? Is it safe?
We run nightly backups of all data. In addition, we maintain a redundant server, in a different location, where myAbakus can be accessed in the unlikely event (uptime is above 99%) of the main server going down.
Who has access to my data?
Only the people you authorize have the right to access to your data. As hardware and software administrators we also have access to it, but this is only for maintenance and administrative purposes. Is myAbakus secure?
Yes, myAbakus is secure and password protected. But if you feel you need to take it even further and encrypt all your data, we offer you the ability to use secure socket layer (SSL) in some of the paying versions.
Can I export my data out of myAbakus?
Yes. You can export all your data from myAbakus in a spreadsheet format (CSV), which is readable by most systems with data import capabilities.
